Instructions

STEP 1

ADULT: Press the shirt to remove any wrinkles and lay it flat on a working surface.

- Fold one piece of 9" x 12" black craft fur in half lengthwise, and use scissors to round the corners slightly.

TIP: Use short snips with the scissors to trim the backing without cutting away too much fur.

- Turn the craft fur over so its back side is exposed. Apply three to four strips of Peel & Stick Tape™ to the back side of the fur, remove the backing that covers the adhesive and place the craft fur onto the center of the T-shirt. The top of the fur rectangle should be about 2-3" down from the collar. Smooth down the fur to make sure it is fully adhered to the fabric of the shirt.

STEP 2

Cuffs: Measure your panther’s wrist, and add 1". On black felt, measure and cut out a rectangle that is as long as this measurement and 2" wide. Repeat for the second cuff.

- Open the second package of craft fur and cut two pieces that are the same width as the felt rectangles, but 1" shorter in length. Apply a strip of Peel & Stick Tape™ down the length of the back of one fur piece and remove the backing that covers the adhesive. Flip the fur piece over and press it against a felt piece so that the fur covers the felt except for 1" on one side.

- Add black VELCRO® Brand coins to the cuff. One coin should be placed on the outside on the 1" that is not covered by fur. The second coin should be placed on the inside of the opposite end of the cuff, so that the two sides of the cuff overlap to close.

STEP 3

- Repeat these steps to make the second cuff.

TIP: To place VELCRO® Brand coins so that they line up perfectly, place a hook (rough) coin within 1" of the cuff’s edge. Stick a loop (soft) coin on top, then fold the other side of the cuff over and press it down on top of the adhesive, overlapping cuff edges by no more than 1".

- Headband: Measure your panther’s head from one ear, across the top of the head, and down to the other ear. Twine the ends of two black chenille stems together to make one long stem that is the same length as this measurement.

- Bend the long stem over their head from ear to ear until it is shaped just like a headband. Coil three to four additional black chenille stems around this base to thicken and strengthen the headband.

STEP 4

To make the fur ears, use the remnants from the package used for the panther’s cuffs. Cut out two pieces of craft fur that are 5" x 2". Trim the short ends of each rectangle so that they are pointed, like cat’s ears.

TIP: As before, make short snips with the scissors to trim the backing without cutting away too much fur.

- ADULT: Turn the rectangles over so that the backing is on top. Apply a line of hot glue across the center width of one fur ear. The glue line should be equidistant from the points of the ears.

- ADULT: While the glue is still hot, press this line of glue along the bottom side of the headband, slightly to the left of the headband’s center. Use the image as a guide for placement. Carefully run your finger along the bottom of the headband a few times to make sure that the fur’s backing is completely adhered to the headband.

STEP 5

- ADULT: Add more hot glue all along the edges of the ear piece on one side of the headband only. Carefully fold both sides of the ear piece up and press them together so that they stick up above the headband like a furry panther ear.

- Trim the edges of the ear, if you desire. Repeat to glue the second ear piece to the other side of the headband.

- Belt: Measure your panther’s waist and add 2". Cut one piece of Midnight Madness Duck Tape® in this length, and lay it sticky-side up on your working surface.

STEP 6

- Cut a second piece of Midnight Madness tape in the same length. Hold this piece sticky-side down, line it up with the first piece and slowly lower it onto the first so that the two pieces are adhered together as evenly as possible. Smooth along the belt to remove wrinkles, and trim away any exposed adhesive on the sides. Finally, trim the ends so that they are even.

- Open up a new package of craft fur, and cut it widthwise into 2" strips, giving you a total of six strips that are 2" x 9".

TIP: As before, make short snips with the scissors to trim the backing without cutting away too much fur.

- Apply a strip of Peel & Stick Tape™ down the length of the back of one fur piece, then remove the backing that covers the adhesive. Flip the fur piece over, line it up with one end of the Duck Tape® belt, and press the two pieces together so that the fur completely covers that section of the belt.

STEP 7

- Repeat to add strips of fur all the way around the belt. Make sure to butt each piece up against the other, so that there are no gaps between fur pieces.

- Trim the last piece of fur to leave 1" at the belt’s end uncovered. Place two VELCRO® Brand coins on this exposed 1" on the outside of the belt.

- Wrap the belt around your panther’s waist so that it closes in the back. Place two more VELCRO® Brand coins on the inside of the opposite end of the belt, so that the two sides of the belt overlap to close.

TIP: To place VELCRO® Brand coins so that they line up perfectly, place a hook (rough) coin within 1" of the belt’s edge. Stick a loop (soft) coin on top, then fold the other side of the belt over and press it down on top of the adhesive, overlapping cuff edges by no more than 1".

STEP 8

- Tail: Repeat Steps 15-16 to make a 24-28" length of double-sided Midnight Madness tape. This is the base of the panther’s tail.

- Open up the final package of craft fur and cut it into six strips that are 2" x 9". Use Peel & Stick Tape™ to adhere the strips of fur along both sides of the Duck Tape® tail. Make sure to butt each piece up against the other, so that there are no gaps.

- Leave the top 1" of the tail uncovered by fur. Stick two VELCRO® coins onto this bare spot, then place two more on the inside of the belt at the center back. Press the coins together to adhere the tail to the inside of the belt.
