Instructions

STEP 1

For the shirt, use the shirt template as a guide to trim the T-shirt’s neckline into a portrait shape. Then, cut away the hems of the sleeves and cut them in a zig-zag pattern, so that they appear ragged.

TIP: Slip a piece of parchment paper between the shirt’s layers, so that the hot glue does not seep through and stick both layers of the shirt together.

STEP 2

ADULT: Use a hot glue gun to attach the orange and black dot trim all along the shirt’s neckline. Glue the orange metallic trim so that it creates a “V” at the center front of the T-shirt, then glue on shorter pieces of the trim in a criss-cross pattern inside the “V”, to mimic lacing. Use the image as a guide.

STEP 3

For the skirt, measure out the stretch crochet ribbon by wrapping it tautly around your witch’s waist. Add 1" to that measurement and cut the length of stretch crochet. Hot glue the ends of the stretch crochet together to form the waistband.

STEP 4

Use lark’s head knots to attach the pre-cut tulle strips to the bottom row of holes on the stretch crochet waistband. In every other hole, knot on three pieces of the black pre-cut tulle.

TIP: Make this process even easier by using a size K crochet hook to pull the tulle strips through the holes.

STEP 5

To make the headband fascinator, apply double-sided tape to the inside and outside of the headband. Peel the second layer of backing away from the first 2" or so on both sides of the headband, so that the sticky side is exposed. Cut two 1" pieces of black grosgrain ribbon from the spool. Fold one of these short pieces of ribbon over the end of the headband, so that the very bottom of each side is covered with ribbon.

STEP 6

Starting at one end, wrap grosgrain ribbon snugly around the headband. As you wrap, peel back the second layer of tape packing a little at a time to expose the sticky portion. Repeat until the headband is completely covered. Set the headband aside.

STEP 7

Cut out the two template pieces (hat cone and brim) from the headband fascinator template sheet. Trace each one onto a piece of stiffened felt and cut out both pieces.

STEP 8

Hold the piece of felt that will become the hat’s cone (this is the semicircle shape) so that the curved edge is on the bottom. Pull the two upper corners of the felt down toward the middle of the felt piece. Wrap one piece over the other and continue to fold them. As you do this, the straight edge of the felt piece will fold into the pointed cone of the hat, while the curved bottom edge will become the circular base of the cone. Secure the cone with a strip of double-sided tape along the vertical edge.

STEP 9

Slide the hat brim (this is the doughnut shape) onto the cone and move it downward toward the base. You should have about ½"-¾" of the cone extending down below the brim. Snip this seam excess/allowance with scissors to create tabs. Place a small dot of hot glue on the outer side of each tab and fold upward to secure the cone to the brim.

STEP 10

ADULT: Hot glue the finished hat to the headband, a little offset from the center point. Use the image as a guide.

STEP 11

ADULT: Cut a piece of black tulle that’s about 8" long, wrap it once around the cone of the hat and then knot it at the back, like a hatband. Use hot glue to glue one more piece of orange and black dot trim around the base of the cone, underneath the tulle.
