Instructions
Step 1 |
Choose a yarn and chenille stem combination for your first yarn pom pom pumpkin. Set the chenille stem aside.
|
Step 2 |
Make a large pom pom by wrapping the yarn around your hand 25 times. Gently slide the entire bundle of looped yarn off of your hand, keeping it as still as possible so that you do not disturb the loops.
|
Step 3 |
Carefully wrap the chenille stem around the center of the bundle as tightly as possible. The tighter you tie the chenille stem, the fluffier the pom pom. Shape the chenille stem ends around to the top of the pom pom pumpkin.
TIP: Make sure you wrap the chenille stem exactly in the center between the looped ends, in order to make the pom pom completely even.
|
Step 4 |
With scissors, cut open all the loops on both ends. Fluff your pom pom and trim the yarn ends to make the fur an even length all the way around.
|
Step 5 |
Twist the chenille stems together to make one slightly thicker stem.
|
Step 6 |
Wrap the thicker chenille stem around a pencil and then slide the pencil out, leaving a coil. Loosen the coil and shape the stem.
|
Step 7 |
Repeat Steps 1-6 for 5 more pom pom pumpkins.
|
Step 8 |
Cut a long piece of Granite yarn for your banner base.
|
Step 9 |
Thread a plastic needle onto the Granite yarn piece and run through the top center of each pom pom pumpkin. Space pumpkins as desired.
